As The Sex Workers Union, we fight for better working conditions and against exploitative bosses. But as sex workers whose work is often criminalised – we must also fight against policies that make us unsafe.

• the support sex workers wish they could access

We aim to provide an up-to-date 101 on sex work in Scotland – any unanswered questions? Just ask!

WORKSHOP ON THE NEEDS & RIGHTS OF MIGRANT SEX WORKERS IN SCOTLAND

Tues. 12th September 1pm - 4pm (free)

Ubuntu Women ShelterNational Ugly Mugs and the Sex Workers Union warmly invite you to a generative conversation (and Q&A) about the needs and rights of migrant sex workers in Scotland.

Framed by expertise drawn from front line support work, lived experience and interconnections with the larger feminist movement, VAWG sector, union organising and anti-racist and decolonial struggles.

We will provide brief context setting on:

• current challenges of women without recourse to public funds in Scotland
• different legal models around sex work
• experiences of migrant sex workers in the UK/Scotland
• criminalisation of migration from the global south to the global north

The knowledge held between the representatives of these three organisations amounts to decades of community organising and we know that the participants of this workshop will also bring a wealth of insight. We welcome this opportunity to learn, discuss, question and exchange.

Teas, coffee and light refreshments will be served.

HOOKERS AGAINST HARDSHIP 2022 – ONGOING

Hookers Against Hardship is a grassroots campaign of sex worker-led organisations, aiming to raise awareness of the specific experiences of sex workers during, and because of, the cost of living crisis. The spiralling cost of living means that more people, especially women and mothers, will be pushed into sex work; and current sex workers will be facing worse financial hardship. We’re working to try to alleviate sex workers’ financial hardship in the current crisis; and to lobby our elected politicians to combat the poverty, criminalisation, and danger faced by sex workers.
